1. Our commitment

Treasure & Trove Ltd (trading as Little India Treasures) is committed to making the Little India Treasures website at www.shoplittleindia.co.uk (the "Site") accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse the web.

We believe that everyone deserves an equal and enjoyable experience when shopping with us. We recognise that web accessibility matters — not just as a legal obligation, but as the right thing to do. Over 16 million people in the UK live with a disability, and we want every one of them to be able to discover, explore, and purchase our products without unnecessary barriers.

As a UK goods and service provider, we are subject to the Equality Act 2010, which requires us to make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage when accessing our services. This Accessibility Statement explains the steps we have taken and are taking to meet that obligation.

We also aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA — the internationally recognised standard for digital accessibility — as our target benchmark. WCAG 2.2 is organised under four principles: content should be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

2. How accessible this Site is

The Site is built on Shopify, a platform that is developed with accessibility in mind and targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance for its core infrastructure. Shopify regularly audits its platform and themes using both automated testing and manual review, including testing with assistive technologies.

We believe that the Site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content may not fully meet the accessibility standard. We have not yet commissioned a full independent accessibility audit, and we acknowledge that some areas of the Site may present barriers for some users. We are committed to identifying and addressing these.

The following features are in place to support accessibility on the Site:

  • The Site can be navigated using a keyboard
  • Text can be resized using browser settings without loss of content or functionality
  • The Site is compatible with modern screen readers and other assistive technologies when used with supported browsers
  • Colour is not used as the sole means of conveying information
  • Page titles are descriptive and reflect the content of each page
  • Links have descriptive text where possible, rather than generic labels such as "click here"
  • Our checkout, basket, and account pages are powered by Shopify's core infrastructure, which is designed to meet accessibility standards
3. Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, we are aware of some areas where the Site may not fully meet accessibility standards. These include:

  • Some product images may not have full or descriptive alternative text (alt text). We are working through our product catalogue to ensure all images have meaningful descriptions for screen reader users
  • Some third-party tools and widgets embedded in the Site — such as payment providers, marketing tools, and social media integrations — are outside our direct control and may not meet WCAG standards in all cases
  • Some older content, including certain product descriptions, may not be fully optimised for screen readers
  • Video content, where present, may not include captions or audio descriptions

We are actively working to address these limitations and will update this statement as improvements are made. If you encounter a specific barrier not listed here, please let us know — your feedback helps us prioritise our accessibility work.

4. Technical information

The Site is built on the Shopify platform. Shopify publishes its own accessibility statement and conformance reports at www.shopify.com/accessibility.

The Site is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and environments:

  • Screen readers, including NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom and text resizing
  • High contrast display modes

For the best experience, we recommend using a recent version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge, together with the latest version of your preferred assistive technology. Older browser versions may not support all accessibility features.

The Site uses JavaScript to provide interactive features including the shopping basket, product filters, and checkout. If JavaScript is disabled, some features may not function as intended.

5. Feedback and contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the Site. If you encounter any barriers, experience difficulty using any part of the Site, or would like to request information in an alternative format, please get in touch:

Email treasures@shoplittleindia.co.uk

We will acknowledge your message within 5 working days and aim to propose a solution or provide the information you need within 10 working days. If you need information urgently, please call us and we will do our best to help you straight away.

We are always happy to provide product information, order assistance, or any other support by telephone or email if you find any part of the online journey difficult to use.

6. Enforcement and escalation

If you have raised an accessibility concern with us and are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to escalate your complaint. The following organisations may be able to assist:

In England, Scotland and Wales, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing equality law, including digital accessibility requirements under the Equality Act 2010. You can contact the EHRC at www.equalityhumanrights.com or on 0808 800 0082.

In Northern Ireland, the equivalent body is the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI), reachable at www.equalityni.org.

We would always encourage you to contact us directly in the first instance, as we are committed to resolving accessibility issues promptly and to your satisfaction.

7. What we are doing to improve

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time task. The steps we are taking to improve the accessibility of the Site include:

  • Working through our product catalogue to ensure all product images have meaningful and descriptive alternative text
  • Reviewing all written content to ensure it is clear, consistent, and navigable by assistive technology users
  • Monitoring the accessibility of third-party integrations and raising concerns with our providers where issues are identified
  • Keeping our Shopify theme updated to benefit from Shopify's ongoing accessibility improvements
  • Reviewing this statement at least annually, and after any significant changes to the Site

We intend to commission a formal accessibility audit to assess the Site against WCAG 2.2 Level AA and will update this statement with the findings when that work is complete.

This Accessibility Statement was last reviewed on 23 March 2026 and will next be reviewed no later than 23 March 2027.
