A block-printed pouch in bold orange on a cornflower blue ground. Lined in orange cotton satin, finished with a gold zip and our metal tiger.
Roomy enough for your daily essentials, slim enough to slip into any bag. At home in a handbag, carry it inside a tote or a carry-on or use it as a clutch on its own. A pouch that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

There is a category of block print that needs no introduction. Bold ground, bold motif, no ambiguity about what it is or what it wants from you. The folk flower is this kind of print.
Found in a Bagru workshop on a length of cotton that had been in the printer's repertoire for generations, this is a pattern with the confidence of something that has never needed to justify itself. A large open flower, petals rounded and graphic, sitting on a simple stem with paired leaves. Orange on cornflower blue. The combination is immediate and total, the kind of pairing that appears in folk textiles across cultures because it simply works.
The blue ground is dyed first, the cotton held in the bath until it reaches this particular clarity. Then the orange of the flower, pressed in a single block over the ground, the petals landing clean and even. Then the white detail at the centre, a final pass that gives the motif its depth. Three colours, three passes, each one placed by hand in Bagru.
The pattern has the quality of something drawn by a child and refined by a craftsman over a hundred years. Simple in its elements, precise in its execution, instantly recognisable as the work of a particular tradition.
The cotton is cut and stitched into a flat pouch, the flowers repeating across every face without interruption. A gold zip runs along the top, finished with a self-fabric knotted tassel and our small metal tiger.
The pouch that announces itself before you even open your bag.

A note on natural variation

Every Folk Flower pouch is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The bold scale of this motif means any variation in the printing is visible and honest. You may notice a flower where the orange sits slightly fuller on one side, or a centre where the white detail caught the block a little more heavily. The cornflower blue ground may carry a slightly different tone from piece to piece. This is a pattern that has been made by hand for generations, and the evidence of that hand is in every flower.
