A block-printed pouch in pink and white on a deep olive green ground. Lined in green cotton satin, finished with a gold zip and our metal tiger.
Small enough to live in any bag. Cards, coins, jewellery, a lip balm, the small things that disappear without something to put them in. A pouch that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

In Indian sacred tradition, the lotus does not stay still. It travels, carried by water, by birds, by the hands of painters and printers across centuries of textile making. In Sanganer it arrived on the end of a vine, trailing across cloth in the pattern known as the lotus trail.
This is a jaal in the classical Sanganer manner, a dense continuous vine that covers every inch of the olive green ground without leaving a gap. The lotus here is rendered in its open form, petals spread wide, the pink of the flower sitting against the deep green the way a lotus sits on water. The dark outlines of the stems and leaves are printed first, laying down the structure of the vine. Then the pink of the petals, then the white detail within each flower. Each pass of the block adds a layer, the pattern building from a network of dark lines into something that, up close, has the detail and depth of a painting.
The olive green ground is one of the quieter colours in the Sanganer palette, warm enough to give the pink flowers their glow without competing with them. The cotton is cut and stitched into a flat pouch, the lotus trail continuing across every face. A gold zip runs along the top, finished with a self-fabric knotted tassel and our small metal tiger.
The pouch that carries four hundred years of Sanganer printing in its pocket.

A note on natural variation

Every Lotus Trail pouch is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The dense jaal pattern uses multiple blocks in sequence, and the slight variation in registration from one pass to the next is part of what gives the cloth its handmade character. You may notice a flower where the pink sits a fraction outside its outline, or a vine that shifts slightly from its neighbour. The olive green ground may carry a slightly different warmth from piece to piece. This is a pattern that has been made by hand for generations, and the evidence of those hands is in every piece.
