A block-printed tote with a double frill all around, in orange, teal and white on a deep cobalt blue ground. Lined in orange and white striped cotton, finished with a shoulder strap.
Perfect for the market, the beach, or anywhere you want your bag to do the talking.
The tote that turns heads before you even put anything in it. A bag that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

In the old palace gardens of Rajasthan, the peacock appears without warning. A flash of blue and green between the trees, tail feathers dragging along the ground, entirely unconcerned with being noticed. The Peacock Garden is a cloth that carries the same quality.
The jaal here is one of Sanganer's most elaborate patterns, a dense Mughal-inspired flowering vine in orange, teal and white on a ground so deeply cobalt it absorbs everything around it. Paisley forms, open blooms, curling leaves and fine scattered details fill every inch of the cloth without leaving a single gap. This is a pattern with centuries of court textile tradition behind it, the kind of design that once appeared on the robes of Mughal nobles and now appears, through the hands of Sanganer's block printers, on cotton.
Multiple blocks build this pattern in sequence, each one adding a layer of detail over the last. The cobalt ground is dyed before a single block touches the cloth. Then the vine structure, laying down the framework. Then the orange, the dominant colour, the one the eye follows through the pattern. Then the teal, cooling the warmth of the orange. Then the white, picking out the finest details. Then the outlines, the last pass, the one that holds the whole pattern together. The number of blocks required for a jaal of this complexity is what separates a Sanganer master printer from anyone else.
The same fabric is gathered into a double frill that runs all the way around the tote, the cobalt jaal breaking into movement as the cloth is pleated. A shoulder strap allows it to be carried hands-free.
The tote that looks like it came from a palace garden and belongs in one.

A note on natural variation

Every Peacock Garden tote is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The complexity of this jaal pattern means variation is present at every level. You may notice a motif where the orange sits slightly outside its outline, or a section of vine where the teal caught the dye more deeply. The cobalt ground may carry a slightly different depth from piece to piece. The double frill is gathered by hand, so its fullness will shift slightly around the tote. This is one of the most intricate patterns in the collection, and the hand behind it is visible in every inch of cloth.
