A block-printed pouch in orange, yellow and green on a white ground, with a gathered frill all around. Lined in orange cotton satin, finished with a gold zip and our metal tiger.
Small enough to live in any bag. Cards, coins, jewellery, a lip balm, the small things that disappear without something to put them in. A pouch that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

Basanti means the colour of spring. In Rajasthan, spring arrives quickly and without apology, the mustard fields turning yellow almost overnight, the orange of the marigold appearing on every temple step before the cold has properly left. This cloth captures that moment.
The pattern is a jaal, a continuous flowering vine that travels across the white ground without leaving a single gap. Large open blooms in orange and yellow, vivid green leaves turning at every angle, the whole thing interlocking in the way a real garden does when growth has taken over and nothing holds back. This is one of Sanganer's oldest pattern structures, the jaal framework inherited from the Mughal textile tradition and refined by generations of printers into something that is now entirely its own.
Multiple blocks build the pattern in sequence. The green vine structure comes first, laying down the framework across the cloth. Then the yellow of the petals, then the orange deepening the blooms. Then the fine dark outlines, the last pass, the one that gives each flower its precision and holds the whole jaal together. Four layers, four passes, every one placed by hand in Sanganer.
The same fabric is gathered into a frill that runs all the way around the pouch, the vines and blooms breaking into movement as the cloth is pleated. A gold zip runs along the top, finished with a self-fabric knotted tassel and our small metal tiger.
The pouch that carries a Rajasthani spring in your bag.

A note on natural variation

Every Basanti Bagh pouch is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The four colour layers in this pattern mean there is genuine variation between pieces. You may notice a bloom where the orange sits slightly outside the yellow beneath it, or a vine that catches the green a little more deeply in one section. The white ground may show a very faint warmth from piece to piece. The frill is gathered by hand, so its fullness will shift slightly around the pouch. With a pattern this layered and abundant, the variation only adds to it.
