Aqua Daisy Frill Makeup Bag

Sale price£36.00

Hand block-printed in Rajasthan
100% pure cotton
Dyed with AZO-free pigments
Sourced directly from the artisan workshop

A block-printed makeup bag in pink and sage on a fresh aqua ground, with a gathered frill all around. Lined in pink and white striped cotton, finished with a gold zip and our metal tiger.
Roomy enough for travel or your daily routine, compact enough for hand luggage. A bag that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

Some prints stop you mid-step. The Aqua Daisy is one of them.
Found in a Bagru workshop on a length of cotton still damp from the dye bath, the daisy here is the genda phool rendered in its simplest form. A single open flower on a straight stem, printed in soft pink against a fresh aqua ground that carries the clarity of a colour mixed light and applied with a careful hand. The motif repeats in a clean grid across the cloth, each flower sitting at the same measured distance from its neighbour, the sage green leaves fanning outward in the same direction every time.
Block printing at this scale of simplicity is unforgiving. There is nowhere for an unsteady hand to hide. The printer must place each block with the same pressure, the same angle, the same rhythm, across the entire length of cloth. The slight variation you may notice from one flower to the next is not error. It is the proof that a hand, not a machine, pressed every single one.
Once printed, the cotton is gathered into a full frill that runs all the way around the perimeter of the bag, the same cloth turning from flat print to movement in a single seam. A gold zip runs across the top, finished with a self-fabric tassel pull and our small metal tiger.
The bag that makes everything else in your washbag look a little ordinary.

A note on natural variation

Every Aqua Daisy bag is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The aqua ground is one of the more variable colours in the range, and you may notice it sitting slightly greener or bluer from piece to piece. A daisy may catch the pink dye a little more deeply, or a leaf sit at a fraction of a different angle. The frill is gathered by hand, so its fullness will vary slightly around the bag. None of this is inconsistency. It is what handmade looks like up close.

Our Promise

Every piece in our collection is sourced directly from artisan workshops we know by name. We pay fairly, we visit often, and we believe the people who make a thing should be valued as much as the thing itself. We use natural dyes wherever possible, plastic-free packaging in every order, and we donate a share of every sale back into the craft communities we work with.
