Mini

Hand block-printed in Rajasthan

A block-printed pouch in pink and sage on a sky blue ground, with a gathered frill all around. Lined in turquoise cotton satin, finished with a gold zip and our metal tiger.
Small enough to live in any bag. Cards, coins, jewellery, a lip balm, the small things that disappear without something to put them in. A pouch that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

There is a particular kind of buta that belongs to Bagru. Not the large medallion of the Mughal tradition, not the dense floral of Sanganer. This one is smaller, more direct, a single flowering plant on a short stem, repeated across the cloth in a clean grid with the confidence of something that has been printed this way for generations.
The buta here sits in soft pink against a sky blue ground, the sage green of the leaves providing the only other colour. Three elements, three colours, one block pressed in careful rhythm across the length of cloth. The slight variation from one repeat to the next is the printer's hand, visible in the weight of the pink, in the angle of a leaf, in the small imperfections that accumulate across a metre of fabric and add up to something that could only have been made by a person.
The sky blue ground is dyed before a single block touches the cloth, the colour settling into the cotton until it reaches this particular clarity. The pink and the sage are printed in sequence over it, each pass adding its layer.
The same fabric is gathered into a frill that runs all the way around the pouch, the buta continuing into the pleats as the cloth is gathered. A gold zip runs along the top, finished with a self-fabric knotted tassel and our small metal tiger.
The frilly pouch that earns its place in any bag it goes into.

A note on natural variation

Every Blue Buta pouch is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. You may notice a buta sitting a fraction higher or lower than its neighbour, or a pink flower that caught the dye a little more deeply on one side. The sky blue ground may carry a slightly different tone from piece to piece. The frill is gathered by hand, so its fullness will vary slightly around the pouch. This is a traditional pattern made the traditional way, and the hand behind it shows in every repeat.

Our Promise

Every piece in our collection is sourced directly from artisan workshops we know by name. We pay fairly, we visit often, and we believe the people who make a thing should be valued as much as the thing itself. We use natural dyes wherever possible, plastic-free packaging in every order, and we donate a share of every sale back into the craft communities we work with.
