Mini

Hand block-printed in Rajasthan
100% pure cotton

A block-printed pouch in pink and sage on a green ground, with a gathered frill all around. Lined in pink cotton satin, finished with a gold zip and our metal tiger.
Small enough to live in any bag. Cards, coins, jewellery, a lip balm, the small things that disappear without something to put them in. A pouch that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

The pomegranate has been flowering in Indian textiles for as long as there have been Indian textiles. It appears in Mughal miniatures, in the carved stone of Rajasthani temples, in the embroidery of Gujarat and the weaving of Kashmir. In Sanganer it found its way onto a teakwood block and from there onto cotton, where it has been repeating ever since.
The gulnaar bel is a climbing vine pattern, the pomegranate flower sitting on a short stem with paired leaves, repeating in vertical columns across the sage green ground. It is a quieter pattern than the dense jaal, each motif given space to breathe, the green of the ground showing between each flower and giving the cloth a freshness that denser prints do not have. The pink of the blooms sits warm against the green, the two colours pulling in opposite directions on the colour wheel and landing exactly right.
The green ground is dyed before a single block touches the cloth. Then the dark outline of the stem and leaves, laying down the structure of the vine. Then the pink of the flower, the final pass, the colour that the whole pattern exists to carry.
The same fabric is gathered into a frill that runs all the way around the pouch, the pomegranate flowers tumbling into the pleats as the cloth is gathered. A gold zip runs along the top, finished with a self-fabric knotted tassel and our small metal tiger.
The pouch that carries four hundred years of Indian botanical printing in your pocket.

A note on natural variation

Every Gulnaar Bel pouch is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The clean spacing of this pattern means variation is visible and honest. You may notice a flower sitting a fraction higher or lower than its neighbour, or a pink bloom that caught the dye a little more deeply on one side. The green ground may carry a slightly different warmth from piece to piece. The frill is gathered by hand, so its fullness will shift slightly around the pouch. This is a pattern that has been made by hand for generations, and the evidence of those hands is in every piece.

Our Promise

Every piece in our collection is sourced directly from artisan workshops we know by name. We use natural dyes wherever possible, plastic-free packaging in every order, and we donate a share of every sale back into the craft communities we work with.
