The Treasure Hunt

Gulistan means rose garden. In Persian poetry, the gulistan is not just a place. It is a state of abundance, a world where everything is in flower at once.
This cloth earns the name. The pattern is a dense floral, large blooms and broad leaves filling every inch of the blush pink ground in cream and soft gold. There is no background visible between the motifs, no breathing room, no gap. The flowers simply continue, one into the next, the way a garden looks in the height of summer when growth has overtaken every available space.
Sanganer has been printing this kind of all-over floral for generations. The pattern uses multiple blocks in sequence, each one adding a layer of detail over the last. The broad cream forms come first, laying down the structure of each flower and leaf. Then the gold, picking out the fine lines within each petal that give the motif its depth and warmth. The blush pink ground sits beneath all of it, dyed before a single block touches the cloth.
The result is a pattern that rewards close attention. From a distance it reads as texture, a soft pink surface covered in something pale and intricate. Up close it resolves into individual flowers, each one carefully rendered, each one placed by hand.
Once printed, the cotton is hand-quilted along vertical channels for structure and a soft padded weight, then bound with a hand-woven pink and white stripe trim. A gold zip runs across the top, finished with a tassel pull.
The wash bag that turns the bathroom shelf into a garden.

A note on natural variation

Every Gulabi Gulistan wash bag is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The all-over nature of this pattern means variation appears across the entire surface rather than in isolated spots. You may notice a flower where the cream sits a little fuller in one petal, or a gold line that caught the dye more warmly in one area. The blush pink ground may carry a slightly different warmth from piece to piece. This is a pattern that has been made by hand for generations, and the evidence of those hands is woven into every piece.
