Clover Tile Wash Bag

Sale price£38.00

Hand block-printed in Rajasthan
100% pure cotton
Dyed with AZO-free pigments
Sourced directly from the artisan workshop

A hand-quilted wash bag, block-printed by hand in deep burgundy on a cream ground. Water-resistant lining, three inner pockets and a gold zip with tassel pull.
Large enough for your full routine, compact enough to live in your luggage. Equally at home on the bathroom shelf and in the overnight bag. A wash bag that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

Some blocks are made for small repeats. This one was made to fill a room.
The clover tile is a large, bold quatrefoil, a four-lobed form that appears across the architecture of Rajasthan in carved stone, inlaid marble and painted plaster. Here it has been cut into a teakwood block and pressed onto cotton in a grid so confident it barely needs anything else. Deep burgundy on cream. Two colours, one block, no apology.
The scale of this motif makes it one of the most demanding prints in the catalogue to execute cleanly. A large block holds more dye than a small one, and the printer must apply consistent pressure across the entire surface to ensure the colour lands evenly from edge to edge. Too little pressure and the centre of the motif prints light. Too much and the dye bleeds beyond the outline. The even, clean burgundy you see on this bag is the result of a printer who has been doing this long enough to know exactly how hard to press.
The burgundy is dyed deep, the cotton held in the bath long enough to reach this richness. The cream is the cotton itself, left untouched between each tile.
Once printed, the cotton is hand-quilted along vertical channels for structure and a soft padded weight, then bound with a hand-woven burgundy and white stripe trim. A gold zip runs across the top, finished with a tassel pull.
The wash bag that looks like it belongs in a Rajasthani haveli.

A note on natural variation

Every Clover Tile wash bag is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The large scale of the motif means any variation is visible and honest. You may notice a tile that caught the dye a little more heavily in one corner, or a motif that sits a fraction off its grid. The burgundy ground may carry a slightly different depth from piece to piece depending on the dye bath. This is a print that wears its handmade nature openly, and that is precisely what makes it worth having.
