Burnt Sunburst Shopper Tote

There is a category of block print that does not ease you in. The Burnt Sunburst is this kind of print.
The motif is a large circular flower, petals radiating outward from a tight centre in fine lines that fill every inch of each bloom. The flowers are so large they barely fit within the repeat, the petals of one touching the petals of the next, the whole cloth becoming a continuous field of radiating lines with almost no ground visible between them. It is a pattern that generates its own energy, the lines pulling the eye outward from each centre in every direction at once.
This is a contemporary design from a Sanganer workshop, made by a printer who understood that the tradition of fine line work in Sanganer, the ability to press a block with enough consistency to keep a hundred parallel lines running true across a full length of cloth, could be turned toward something entirely new. The crimson outlines and coral fills are printed in sequence, each pass of the block adding its layer until the sunburst is complete.
Once printed, the cotton is hand-quilted along vertical channels for structure and a soft padded weight, then bound with a red and white stripe trim along every edge and handle. The same stripe lines the interior, running behind the scalloped pocket that holds the main fabric.

Every Burnt Sunburst tote is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The density of the fine line work means variation is built into the pattern at a fundamental level. You may notice a section where the lines press slightly closer together, or a bloom where the coral fill sits a fraction outside the crimson outline. The cream ground may carry a very faint warmth from piece to piece. This is a pattern that demands precision and rewards it with character.

Returns

You have 14 days from receiving your order to return it. Items must be unused, in their original condition and packaging.

For change-of-mind returns, we email you a Royal Mail returns link — no printer needed, no postage to pay upfront. The cost of return postage is deducted from your refund.

For faulty, damaged or incorrect items, we cover return postage in full and refund your original delivery charge. Sale items are final.
