Feather Bloom Shopper Tote

Sale price£65.00

Hand block-printed in Rajasthan
100% pure cotton
Dyed with AZO-free pigments
Sourced directly from the artisan workshop

A hand-quilted block-printed shopper in coral and cream on a deep teal ground, large enough for the farmers market, the beach, the office, or anywhere a day takes you.
Navy and white striped lining, scalloped interior pocket, side water bottle holder, a gold heart clasp for your keys and an exterior back pocket for your phone, lip balm or any quick access stuff.
The tote that makes every errand feel like less of one. A bag that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

In Sanganer, the largest blooms belong to the oldest patterns. The feather bloom is one of these, a large open flower with petals that fan outward like plumage, each one rendered in fine detail against a ground deep enough to hold it.
The motif here is generous in scale, filling the cloth with the kind of confidence that only comes from a pattern that has been printed long enough to know exactly what it is. The feathered petals in coral and cream sit against the teal ground the way a peacock sits against the sky, the contrast total, the effect immediate. Up close the detail reveals itself, fine lines within each petal, the vines connecting each bloom to the next, the lavender outlines that give the whole pattern its depth.
Multiple blocks build this pattern in sequence. The teal ground is dyed first. Then the vine structure, laying down the framework across the cloth. Then the cream of the petals, broad and generous. Then the coral, deepening the edges. Then the fine outlines, the last pass, pressing the detail into each feathered tip. Four layers, four passes, every one placed by hand in Sanganer.
Once printed, the cotton is hand-quilted along vertical channels for structure and a soft padded weight, then bound with a navy and white stripe trim along every edge and handle. The same stripe lines the interior, running behind the scalloped pocket that holds the main fabric.
The tote that stops people in the street.

A note on natural variation

Every Feather Bloom tote is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The large scale of the blooms means variation is visible and generous. You may notice a petal where the coral sits slightly outside the cream beneath it, or a flower where the fine outlines caught more pigment on one side. The teal ground may carry a slightly different depth from piece to piece. This is a pattern that rewards close attention, and the closer you look the more the hand behind it becomes visible.
