Sale price£65.00

Hand block-printed in Rajasthan
100% pure cotton

A hand-quilted block-printed shopper in pink and gold on a deep plum ground, large enough for the farmers market, the beach, the office, or anywhere a day takes you.
Pink and white striped lining, scalloped interior pocket, side water bottle holder, a gold heart clasp for your keys and an exterior back pocket for your phone, lip balm or any quick access stuff.
The tote that makes every errand feel like less of one. A bag that feels like something you found rather than something you bought.

The Treasure Hunt

Jamuni means purple. Gulistan means rose garden. Put them together and you have exactly what this cloth is, a garden in bloom on a ground the colour of dusk.
The jaal here is one of Sanganer's most generous patterns, large open flowers in pink and mustard gold trailing on fine vines across a deep plum ground that holds them with the authority of a colour that knows what it is doing. The flowers are fully rendered, petals spread wide, the detail within each bloom printed with the fine outlines that Sanganer is known for. The gold of the secondary flowers and leaves sits warm against the plum, the pink of the main blooms sitting cool against it, the two colours pulling in different directions and landing exactly right.
Multiple blocks build this pattern in sequence. The plum ground is dyed before a single block touches the cloth. Then the vine structure, laying down the framework. Then the gold, adding warmth. Then the pink, the dominant colour, the one the eye goes to first. Then the fine outlines, the last pass, the one that draws the whole pattern into focus. Four layers, four passes, every one placed by hand in Sanganer.
Once printed, the cotton is hand-quilted along vertical channels for structure and a soft padded weight, then bound with a pink and white stripe trim along every edge and handle. The same stripe lines the interior, running behind the scalloped pocket that holds the main fabric.
The tote for someone who believes a bag should be as considered as everything else they wear.

A note on natural variation

Every Jamuni Gulistan tote is printed and stitched by hand, so no two are quite the same. The deep plum ground is one of the more characterful colours in the range and may carry a slightly warmer or cooler tone from piece to piece. You may notice a flower where the pink sits a fraction outside its outline, or a gold motif that caught the dye more warmly in one area. This is a complex pattern produced by skilled hands, and the evidence of those hands is in every piece.

Our Promise

Every piece in our collection is sourced directly from artisan workshops we know by name. We pay fairly, we visit often, and we believe the people who make a thing should be valued as much as the thing itself. We use natural dyes wherever possible, plastic-free packaging in every order, and we donate a share of every sale back into the craft communities we work with.
